Sub-Branding Exercise


 

  The design task comprised creation of a new sub-brand from an established brand.  The sub-brand must involve a new product or service related to the brand. It must have a related but distinctive identification through integration with the Corporate Identity System (CIS) for the brand.

 I selected Toro as the brand, since they manufacture a variety of commercial and residential landscaping and grounds-care products. They are the leading manufacturer of golf course maintenance equipment. It made sense that the manufacturer of landscape care equipment could develop a service brand related to landscape maintenance. The landscape service would utilize Toro equipment exclusively, serving as an additional conduit for sales and further reinforcing the brand relationship.

  The Matador brand logo uses the same colors and type font as the Toro CIS. A promotional piece highlighted the use of quality Toro equipment for year-round services directed at both residential and commercial customers.
